Maintenance Tips for Gear Pumps
The vehicle is composed of various mechanical parts. All these components work together to maintain the normal function of the machine. Moreover, the application places and functions of different mechanical components in automobiles are also different. Now let's talk about the gear pumps used in cars. Gear pump is also called gear oil transfer pump. It is a positive displacement pump used to pump low-viscosity or high-viscosity fluids.
An important part of this product is the pump bearing, which is composed of many parts. One is a housing that includes an internal pumping chamber configured as a pair of intersecting cylinders. The second is the entrance to the chamber. The third is the outlet from the chamber and spaced from the inlet. The fourth is a pair of meshing gears in the chamber, each gear is arranged on an associated shaft.
Sometimes gear pump bearings consist of a specially designed surface layer of PTFE formulation, specifically for high PV values. It can be used for medium and high pressure gear pumps, plunger pumps, vane pumps, etc. Because it does not contain lead, the lubrication state of the bearing is cleaner and meets environmental protection requirements.
Gear pumps can also be used to transport all kinds of oils, such as heavy oil, diesel, lubricating oil, and copper gears can transport low-point liquids, such as gasoline, benzene, etc. The unit also produces stainless steel gear pumps that can transport beverages and corrosives. Liquid. But the most common example is the hydraulic gear pump used in many vehicle transmissions. Because it is so common on vehicles, proper maintenance becomes very necessary, because good maintenance skills may save you considerable costs.
The most important component you should pay attention to is the gear pump bearing, because a defective bearing will cause the gear in the pump to move in position in the chamber instead of keeping it straight and real. Therefore, you should check them to ensure their normal performance. If there is a problem with the pump bearing, it must be removed using a bearing puller.
In addition, you should check the teeth in the gears for signs of wear. The gap between the gear teeth and the cavity wall of a brand new gear pump is approximately 0.005 to 0.007 inches when it leaves the factory. This gap is just enough for a thin piece of wrapping paper. Therefore, you can use this type of paper to check the gap between gear teeth. If the paper slips in and out between the teeth too easily, the gear is worn out due to poor scrubbing or poor lubrication.
In addition to pump bearings and gears, you should also check some other related parts, such as the pins that fix the gears on the shaft, which are essential for the reliable operation of the pump. The failure of the pin will cause its failure.
In summary, in order to properly maintain the gear pump on the vehicle, you should pay attention to many components and check them regularly. To ensure that our gear pumps and vehicles can be used longer and more stable.
